Key Responsibilities

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the financial and contractual success of projects. Your duties will include:

Cost Management:

• Preparing detailed cost plans and estimates for projects.
• Monitoring and controlling project budgets to ensure they are completed within agreed financial parameters.

Procurement:

• Sourcing, negotiating, and managing subcontracts and suppliers.
• Ensuring value for money while maintaining the highest standards of quality.

Contract Management:

• Administering contracts, including NEC, JCT, or bespoke agreements.
• Managing variations, extensions of time, and claims.

Reporting and Analysis:

• Preparing regular project cost reports, forecasts, and financial reconciliations.
• Providing timely financial advice to project teams and stakeholders.

Collaboration and Communication:

• Working closely with project managers, site teams, and stakeholders to ensure smooth delivery.
• Building and maintaining strong client relationships.

Risk Management:

• Identifying and mitigating risks related to project costs and schedules.
• Candidate Profile

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
• A minimum of 3-5 years of experience working with building contractors, ideally managing projects valued between £5m and £10m.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
• Proficiency in contract administration and an understanding of standard forms of contracts (e.g., JCT, NEC).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Outstanding communication and negotiation abilities.
• Proficiency in relevant software, such as MS Excel and cost management tools.
• Membership in a professional body (e.g., RICS or CIOB) is advantageous but not essential.+-
