Civil Engineer

I’m seeking a skilled and dedicated Civil Engineer to join our team in delivering a large-scale arc furnace project in Port Talbot

• Location: Port Talbot, United Kingdom
• Employment Type: Full-Time, Project-Based

This is a high-profile industrial project aimed at modernizing and enhancing steel production capabilities, requiring a professional with a strong background in civil engineering, industrial construction, and project management.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with structural engineers, architects, and project managers to develop detailed designs for the arc furnace foundation and surrounding infrastructure.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, local building codes, and environmental regulations.
• Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments.
• Supervise civil construction activities, including excavation, concrete pouring, and steel reinforcement.
• Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors to ensure timely and quality execution of civil works.
• Monitor site safety and enforce adherence to safety protocols.
• Liaise with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical and electrical engineers to integrate civil works with other project components.
• Maintain regular communication with stakeholders, providing updates on progress, challenges, and solutions.
• Inspect materials, workmanship, and construction techniques to ensure high standards.
• Address any technical issues or deviations from the design specifications promptly.
• Documentation and Reporting:
• Prepare and maintain detailed project documentation, including reports, drawings, and schedules.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. A master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., Chartered Engineer status) is a plus.

Experience:

• 5+ years of experience in industrial or heavy construction projects, with a preference for experience in steelmaking facilities or similar environments.
• Proficiency in managing large-scale civil engineering projects from design to completion.
• Strong knowledge of structural analysis, soil mechanics, and reinforced concrete design.
• Familiarity with engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar tools.
• Understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations in industrial construction.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Strong leadership and team coordination skills
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work with diverse teams and stakeholders.
