This is a high-profile industrial project aimed at modernizing and enhancing steel production capabilities, requiring a professional with a strong background in civil engineering, industrial construction, and project management.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with structural engineers, architects, and project managers to develop detailed designs for the arc furnace foundation and surrounding infrastructure.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, local building codes, and environmental regulations.
- Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments.
- Supervise civil construction activities, including excavation, concrete pouring, and steel reinforcement.
- Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors to ensure timely and quality execution of civil works.
- Monitor site safety and enforce adherence to safety protocols.
- Liaise with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical and electrical engineers to integrate civil works with other project components.
- Maintain regular communication with stakeholders, providing updates on progress, challenges, and solutions.
- Inspect materials, workmanship, and construction techniques to ensure high standards.
- Address any technical issues or deviations from the design specifications promptly.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Prepare and maintain detailed project documentation, including reports, drawings, and schedules.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. A master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., Chartered Engineer status) is a plus.
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in industrial or heavy construction projects, with a preference for experience in steelmaking facilities or similar environments.
- Proficiency in managing large-scale civil engineering projects from design to completion.
- Strong knowledge of structural analysis, soil mechanics, and reinforced concrete design.
- Familiarity with engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar tools.
- Understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations in industrial construction.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Strong leadership and team coordination skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work with diverse teams and stakeholders.
