About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and driven Electrical Engineer to join our team for a large-scale, high-technology construction project in Cardiff. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in delivering an advanced and complex project, working with cutting-edge technologies in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

The successful candidate will bring expertise in electrical systems design, implementation, and management, gained through experience on large-scale projects. You will ensure that all electrical systems meet safety standards, quality benchmarks, and project requirements, while also contributing to innovative solutions and sustainability goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and Planning:
    • Develop and review electrical system designs, layouts, and specifications to meet project requirements.
    • Collaborate with design teams to integrate electrical systems with other disciplines.
    • Perform load calculations, equipment selection, and capacity planning.
  • Project Execution:
    • Oversee the installation, commissioning, and testing of electrical systems, ensuring compliance with codes and standards.
    • Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies for electrical aspects of the project.
    • Ensure all electrical work is completed on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Compliance and Safety:
    • Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations, industry standards, and project specifications.
    • Work closely with regulatory authorities and stakeholders to secure necessary approvals and certifications.
  • Team Collaboration:
    • Act as a key liaison between clients, contractors, suppliers, and internal project teams.
    • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and team members.
    • Support cross-functional teams to achieve overall project objectives.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Prepare detailed reports, technical documentation, and progress updates.
    • Maintain accurate records of electrical installations, inspections, and modifications.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Education and Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
    • Proven experience as an Electrical Engineer on large-scale construction projects, ideally in high-tech or industrial environments.
    • Chartered Engineer status (or working towards it) is highly desirable.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • In-depth knowledge of electrical systems design, installation, and maintenance.
    • Proficiency in relevant software tools, such as AutoCAD, ETAP, or similar.
    • Familiarity with UK building regulations, BS7671 wiring regulations, and other industry standards.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving abilities with a focus on practical, efficient solutions.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
