About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and driven Electrical Engineer to join our team for a large-scale, high-technology construction project in Cardiff. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in delivering an advanced and complex project, working with cutting-edge technologies in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
The successful candidate will bring expertise in electrical systems design, implementation, and management, gained through experience on large-scale projects. You will ensure that all electrical systems meet safety standards, quality benchmarks, and project requirements, while also contributing to innovative solutions and sustainability goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and Planning:
- Develop and review electrical system designs, layouts, and specifications to meet project requirements.
- Collaborate with design teams to integrate electrical systems with other disciplines.
- Perform load calculations, equipment selection, and capacity planning.
- Project Execution:
- Oversee the installation, commissioning, and testing of electrical systems, ensuring compliance with codes and standards.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies for electrical aspects of the project.
- Ensure all electrical work is completed on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations, industry standards, and project specifications.
- Work closely with regulatory authorities and stakeholders to secure necessary approvals and certifications.
- Team Collaboration:
- Act as a key liaison between clients, contractors, suppliers, and internal project teams.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and team members.
- Support cross-functional teams to achieve overall project objectives.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Prepare detailed reports, technical documentation, and progress updates.
- Maintain accurate records of electrical installations, inspections, and modifications.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proven experience as an Electrical Engineer on large-scale construction projects, ideally in high-tech or industrial environments.
- Chartered Engineer status (or working towards it) is highly desirable.
- Technical Expertise:
- In-depth knowledge of electrical systems design, installation, and maintenance.
- Proficiency in relevant software tools, such as AutoCAD, ETAP, or similar.
- Familiarity with UK building regulations, BS7671 wiring regulations, and other industry standards.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong problem-solving abilities with a focus on practical, efficient solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
