About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to lead the commercial function of a large data centre build project in West London. This is a fantastic opportunity to join an award-winning construction company that offers long-term career security and the chance to work on high-profile projects.
The ideal candidate will come from a large-scale construction background, having worked at Managing Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager level, overseeing the commercial aspects of major projects. While data centre experience is highly desirable, it is not essential—strong experience in large-scale construction projects is key.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the commercial strategy for a major data centre construction project.
- Oversee cost management, procurement, contract administration, and risk management.
- Ensure projects are delivered within budget, maximising profitability while maintaining quality.
- Manage and mentor a team of Quantity Surveyors and commercial staff.
- Negotiate and manage subcontractor and supplier contracts.
- Collaborate closely with project teams, senior stakeholders, and clients to drive commercial success.
- Provide regular financial reports, forecasts, and cost analysis.
- Ensure compliance with contractual, legal, and regulatory requirements.
Key Requirements
- Proven experience as a Commercial Manager or Managing Quantity Surveyor on large-scale construction projects.
- Strong background in cost management, contract negotiation, and commercial leadership.
- Experience managing high-value projects, ideally in sectors such as data centres, infrastructure, or major commercial builds.
- Excellent knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop teams.
- Ability to strategically manage risk, budgets, and contracts.
- Data centre experience is a plus but not essential.
Why Join?
- Work for an award-winning, financially secure company with a strong pipeline of projects.
- Opportunity to be involved in a high-profile data centre build.
- Excellent career progression within a stable and growing organisation.
- Competitive salary package with strong benefits.
