Project Director – £70m School Build

Overview

We are working in partnership with an award-winning Tier 1 building contractor to recruit a highly experienced Project Director to lead the delivery of a flagship £70m+ school build project in the Cardiff area.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the overall delivery of a £70m new build school project from inception to completion
• Manage and coordinate a large project team, including site managers, engineers, planners, and commercial staff
• Report directly to the Regional Operations Director
• Oversee health & safety, quality, programme, and commercial performance
• Build strong relationships with the client, consultants, and supply chain
• Ensure timely delivery to the highest standards, within budget and programme

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Project Director or Senior Project Manager delivering complex new build schemes (ideally £30m+)
• Background in main contracting – Tier 1 contractor experience preferred
• Strong leadership, communication, and client-facing skills
• Track record of successfully delivering education or public sector projects is advantageous
• Relevant construction qualifications and certifications (e.g., SMSTS, CSCS, First Aid)
