Quantity Surveyor – Exeter

Sphere Solutions are partnering with a respected construction contractor delivering projects across the South West. The business delivers a diverse range of regeneration schemes, new build affordable housing, and commercial developments.

Due to continued growth, they are recruiting an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their Exeter office. This role offers long-term career development and the opportunity to work on varied, meaningful projects that positively impact local communities.

Responsibilities

As Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial function across multiple projects, ensuring robust financial management and successful project delivery. Key duties include:

• Managing the commercial performance of construction projects from inception to completion.
• Preparing and analysing cost plans, budgets, and forecasts.
• Procurement of subcontractors, materials, and services.
• Managing subcontract orders, variations, valuations, and final accounts.
• Conducting site visits and collaborating closely with operational teams.
• Preparing monthly CVRs, reporting, and cost/value reconciliations.
• Ensuring projects are delivered in line with contractual, financial, and quality expectations.
• Building strong working relationships with clients, supply chain partners, and internal teams.
• Supporting commercial risk management and ensuring contract compliance.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Previous experience working as a QS within the construction industry.
• Strong commercial and financial management skills.
• Experience working across a range of project types (housing, regeneration, commercial).
• Good understanding of construction processes and contract frameworks.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
• Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying (preferred but not essential).
