Small Works Manager

Sphere Solutions is currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Small Works Manager to join a rapidly growing contractor in Exeter. This is a unique opportunity to establish and manage a startup division dedicated to small works, making a significant impact in the business from the ground up. If you have a background in small works management and the ambition to lead an entire business unit, we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and Manage the Team: Build and lead a high-performing team, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
• Business Development: Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships, identifying and securing new business opportunities.
• Tendering and Bidding: Actively tender for new projects and business opportunities, driving growth for the division.
• Project Management: Oversee all stages of the project lifecycle, from inception to completion, including financial reporting and tracking progress.
• Performance Management: Set and review staff targets, project plans, and performance metrics to ensure high standards.
• Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all operations meet Health & Safety standards and manage any contract disputes that may arise.
• Staff Development & Recruitment: Lead recruitment efforts and manage staff training to ensure team growth and development.

Required Skills and Experience

• Proven Small Works Management Experience: Strong background in managing small works projects within the construction industry.
• Client Development: An established network of potential leads and clients within the sector.
• Leadership: Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience in managing contracts, teams, and P&L responsibilities.
• Problem-Solving: Excellent decision-making skills and a strong ability to solve problems in high-pressure environments.
• Relevant Qualifications: Construction management qualifications and a valid driving licence.
