We are looking to recruit a Mechanical Project Manager to oversee all building services packages for on-site construction projects. Working on large contracting schemes, this is a rare opportunity to be involved in some landmark projects, covering commercial, industrial and public sector build schemes.

The role will be varied, and you will manage all engineering services, manage resources on projects, supply chain management, cost reporting / procurement for building services packages, client liaison, consultant liaison, manage all project reporting, site auditing / project compliance, ensure on site health and safety and monthly reporting on building services schedule and programme.

 

What you will need:

  • BTEC / HNC in Building Services, IOSH, CSCS, SMSTS.
  • Experience of managing building services / M&E packages, delivering on time and programme
  • Management of procurement, labour and sub-contractors
  • Management of contract costs and variations – projects over £2m
  • Health and safety management, risk assessments
  • Compilation and presenting operating and maintenance manuals
  • Full UK Driving License and subject to SC Clearance

You will join an experienced team, taking the site lead on a part refurbishment/part new build project, ensuring the safe and timely running of the site. Site logistics will be challenging and it’s a fairly detailed build. Thus attention to detail will be key for this site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage sub-contractors, site labour, and material hire.
  • Work to programme and budget, reporting any issues or risks that arise.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and that they are in place and met at all times.
  • Liaise with the visiting Contracts Manager

Suitable candidates:

  • SMSTS, First Aid at Work and CSCS Card
  • Must have a proven track record managing refurbishment & new build projects
  • Good supply chain management ability

  • Provide commercial input to the Civils package, including financial and contractual performance forecasts.
  • Manage valuations, project cashflows, and turnover forecasts, including monthly cost reports and progress records.
  • Provide legal and contractual advice on orders and changes, handling notices and subcontractor administration.
  • Lead and manage junior staff, ensuring workload targets, deadlines, and commercial tasks are met and updated monthly.
  • Ensure cash flow is maximised including ensuring payments are received on time.

What are we looking for?

  • Prior experience working for a Contractor as a QS.
  • Technical understanding of MEP systems.
  • A clear understanding of the different forms of contracts, specifically NEC.
  • The ability to work collaboratively and as part of a team.
