We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team, specializing in housing groundworks. This is a permanent position offering a fantastic opportunity to work with a well-established company that delivers high-quality groundworks, infrastructure, and civil engineering services for residential developments.

 

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial and contractual management of multiple projects, ensuring cost control, accurate valuations, and financial reporting while working closely with site teams, clients, and subcontractors.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Manage the cost planning, budgeting, and financial reporting for multiple housing groundwork projects.
  • Oversee subcontractor procurement, tendering, and contract negotiations to ensure cost efficiency.
  • Conduct valuations, variations, and final account settlements.
  • Monitor project costs, identify risks, and implement cost-saving strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with contract terms (NEC, JCT, or bespoke contracts) and company procedures.
  • Prepare monthly CVRs, cash flow forecasts, and cost/value reconciliations.
  • Work closely with site teams, project managers, and clients to maintain commercial control.
  • Resolve disputes, claims, and contractual issues effectively.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior surveyors within the team.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within the housing groundworks or civil engineering sector.
  • Strong knowledge of cost management, procurement, and contract administration.
  • Experience working with NEC, JCT, or bespoke contracts.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, cost management software, and reporting tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Full UK driving license and willingness to travel to sites as required.

Sphere Solutions are working in partnership with an award-winning housing developer to recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their Exeter office, working across sites in Plymouth and Exeter.

Playing an integral part of the team, you will report to the Commercial Manager and work closely with a Senior QS to assist the commercial delivery of new build housing sites.

Trainee level candidates are encouraged to apply, but would need to have experience.

Suitable candidates will possess the following:

  • HNC/Degree qualified ideally
  • Must have a good understanding and knowledge of construction methods and materials.
  • Good MS Office and COINS experience would be preferred.
  • Proven experience within this role is essential.
  • Must have a driving licence

I am working with a highly reputable house building company to strengthen their team by recruiting an experienced Customer Care Coordinator.

Working within this experienced Customer Service department, you will act as the first point of contact, providing a high quality and professional level of service to customers and the department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be the first point of contact for all enquires
  • Respond to all customer queries within a timely manner
  • Asses validity of warranty claims and defects
  • Schedule appointment for technicians
  • Order materials / obtain quotations
  • Collate property information packs
  • Provide required reports and analysis as required.
  • Provide additional ad-hoc support to the department as required.

Key Requirements

  • Experience within a similar role is ESSENTIAL with construction, advantageous would be house building or maintenance

Assistant Site Manager – Yeovil

Sphere Solutions are working with a large and successful house builder to recruit an experienced Assistant Site Manager to join an existing site in Yeovil.

You will join a busy development, reporting to the Senior Management team and support with the daily supervision of the onsite workforce.

The role will include:

  • Assist with the management of a construction site, focusing on budget, specification, programme and quality.
  • Ensure all quality and safety inspections are within quality control standards.
  • Staff inductions, timesheets, incident reports, quality control checklists.
  • Materials are called off in a timely manner and checked and stored.
  • Assist the Site Manager to supervise activity of the workforce, including all subcontractors, to ensure works are completed on time, to the desired quality standards and within budget

Suitable candidates:

  • Experience within the house building industry is essential, within an Assistant Site Management role
  • Understanding of the NHBC or /LABC/Premier standards
  • Understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation
  • CSCS, SMSTS and First Aid at Work
  • Full UK Driving Licence is required
  • Qualified to minimum NVQ Level 4 in Construction Site Supervision is desirable
